SYNOPSIS
Inspired by the Hollywood classic The Wizard of Oz, THE WOMAN OF AHHS is the exhilarating, unpredictable adventure of Jude Garland, a handsome, charming, lovelorn musician on a quest to find a mysterious woman whom he has only glimpsed over the Internet. Light, dark, comedic, and dramatic, THE WOMAN OF AHHS is an insightful, provocative and refreshingly original exploration of romantic love.
While accurate, this brief story synopsis is misleading vis-à-vis the actual film. In the film, the action is not sequential. The telling is not orderly. There are characters and themes, certainly, and there is a narrative and dialogue. However, what makes this film an explosive event is the way it is made and why. Constantly moving with remarkable naturalness from representations of one reality to many others and then back again, THE WOMAN OF AHHS exploits the subject of romantic love as a metaphor for examining itself as a film, as media, and as consciousness. The multiple mixes of media images, the overt and covert acknowledgments of the camera’s presence and the appearance of the crew throughout the film are a reification of this truth
